# MSME line-of-credit survey for DBJ, Lumin and UWI

A small-business survey in 2020. Balcostics was prime contractor and also did the analysis. Completed interviews: 111, on paper and by phone.

In 2020 the Development Bank of Jamaica, with Lumin and the University of the West Indies, needed a survey of micro, small and medium enterprises on a line of credit. They needed the interviews done in Jamaica, and they needed the analysis as well as the file. Balcostics Research held the prime contract for both.

Interviewers completed 111 interviews. The modes were paper and telephone. On the paper side, interviewers used a questionnaire, brought the forms back, and the office keyed them. On the phone side, interviewers followed a script. The two modes fed one study. After data entry and checks, Balcostics analysed the interviews and delivered that analysis with the survey. Lumin and the University of the West Indies are named on the same job. The contract sat with us, so this is a prime example, with analysis in the scope.

The result we hand to a new client is simple. In 2020 we completed 111 business interviews, on paper and by phone, and we did the analysis under the same contract. It shows how we run a small business survey when you want one firm to field the work and to analyse it.

National household fieldwork is a different scale. For that, read [MICS 2022](/case-studies/mics-2022/). To commission a new MSME survey, send the sample size, the mode and the timeline through the [contact](/contact/) page. The reply will say whether Balcostics is prime and whether analysis is included.
Say in that note whether the questionnaire is already drafted, and whether you want paper, phone, tablets, or a mix.
