# How to collect data online with myVoice

myVoice is a Jamaican survey app. Researchers post surveys in the Research Hub. Members answer them and earn points. On 1 October 2026 the hub showed 6,063 active members across all 14 parishes.

Researchers and members use the same app for opposite jobs. This page is the researcher side: who does what, the six steps in the Research Hub, the three tiers, points packs, rewards, the checks on the data, and how to unlock findings from a public survey.

Figures for the size of the panel come from `GET /api/surveys/hub-stats` on 1 October 2026: 6,063 respondents, 157 surveys, 22 organisations, 14 parishes. Balcostics treats the respondent count as active registered members. The number moves. Quote it with the date.

Create an account at [myvoice.page/login](https://myvoice.page/login). Open the Hub at [myvoice.page/research](https://myvoice.page/research). If you would rather we run it, start at [data collection](/data-collection-jamaica/).

## Who does what on myVoice

**Researchers and organisations** ask the questions. You build a survey yourself, or you pay the AI questionnaire designer to draft it at 30 points a question. You target by parish. On Enterprise you can also target gender, age, income and diaspora. You can fund a reward pool so members are paid for every completed survey. You watch results and download an anonymised CSV.

**Members across Jamaica** answer open surveys on a phone. They earn points for each completed survey, never per question. They can collect a daily activity bonus. They redeem points for mobile top-ups once the account qualifies. Rewards are the reason people come back. The checks further down this page are the reason you can use the file.

## Run a survey in six steps

Do this yourself, or send us the scope and we set it up.

1. **Open the Research Hub.** Sign in to myVoice and choose Research Hub. An organisation can add a company profile.
2. **Write your questions.** Type them in, or use the AI questionnaire designer at 30 points a question. Skip logic is built in. Rewards are priced per completed survey, not per question.
3. **Pick a tier.** Starter, Pro or Enterprise, depending on length, targeting and the analysis you need.
4. **Choose who answers.** Select parishes. On Enterprise, add gender, age, income or diaspora if you need them.
5. **Fund rewards and launch.** Set a reward pool if the tier allows it. Enterprise surveys are also pushed to matching members. The server shows the points cost before launch.
6. **Read the results.** Results open after 20 respondents. From there you can export the anonymised CSV. Cross-tabs and themes on open answers depend on the tier.

## Three survey tiers

Prices are in myVoice points. You buy points in Jamaican dollars.

**Starter** is free. Up to 10 questions. Up to 50 respondents. Rewards of 0 to 10 points.

**Pro** is 500 points plus 100 points a question. Up to 30 questions. Parish targeting. An optional reward pool. CSV export.

**Enterprise** is 1,000 points plus 100 points a question. Up to 50 questions. Gender, age, income and diaspora targeting, with a premium of 0, 25 or 50 percent. Open answers with sentiment and themes. Cross-tabs and push distribution. A 5 percent tax applies. Open answers and AI themes, priced at 500 points per survey on other tiers, are included on Enterprise.

The sentiment and theme pass calls an external AI model.

## Points packs and the field collector

Points are bought through WiPay, in Jamaican dollars.

| Pack | Price |
| --- | --- |
| 1,000 points | J$1,300 |
| 5,000 points | J$4,500 |
| 10,000 points | J$8,500 |
| 30,000 points | J$20,000 |

The offline field collector is 10,000 points a month for the study owner. Interviewers use it free. It is CAPI on Android: offline capture and sync, contact attempts, household roster, random (Kish) respondent selection, GPS at start and finish, a supervisor flag beyond 500 metres, and per-question timing. Enumerator, supervisor and manager are separate roles. Devices are Android.

An all-island panel read commissioned from Balcostics, as distinct from these self-serve points prices, is about J$470 a respondent at 1,000 completes in the May 2026 quotation model. The comparison with face-to-face fieldwork is on [myVoice sentiment surveys](/myvoice-sentiment-surveys/).

## Rewards and data checks

Members are paid from the reward pool when they finish a survey. They are not paid per question. A daily activity bonus pays up to 50 points for using several parts of the app. Mobile top-ups are available once the account is at least 21 days old, active enough, and holds enough points. The app shows the member the rule that applies to their account.

Three checks sit on the researcher side.

- One paying account per device. A duplicate account on the same device cannot redeem.
- Published counts drop flagged and duplicate accounts. The respondent number you see is the clean count.
- Exports are anonymised. The CSV carries parish, age group and gender, and education or employment where the survey asked them. It does not carry names or email addresses.

## How to unlock public survey findings

Some surveys on the Hub are public. Anyone with a myVoice account can unlock the findings with points. Counts and percentages stay in the Hub, where flagged accounts are already excluded. Unlock prices use that clean sample.

1. **Sign up free** at [myvoice.page/login](https://myvoice.page/login). Earn points by answering surveys, or buy a points pack.
2. **Open the survey in the Research Hub.** Results open once a survey has at least 20 respondents.
3. **Unlock the questions you need.** You pay per question. The price rises with the clean sample: 100 points a question below 300 clean respondents, 200 points from 300, 300 points from 500, and 500 points from 1,000 clean respondents upward.
4. **Open answers and AI themes** are 500 points for the survey, and are included on Enterprise.

For a custom survey, a cross-tab pack, or a briefing, [talk to Balcostics](/contact/). For a population estimate rather than a panel read, commission [fieldwork](/data-collection-jamaica/) and keep the Hub as the early signal.

## Questions

**Is the myVoice panel a probability sample?**

No. Members choose to join and are rewarded for completed surveys. The panel shows direction and change quickly. For a population estimate we field a sampled survey, and the panel can run alongside it.

**Can Balcostics run the survey for us?**

Yes. Send your scope and we design, program, launch and report, online, offline, or both. You can also do the six Research Hub steps yourself.

**Can we collect where people are offline?**

Yes. The myVoice field collector runs on Android tablets and phones without signal and syncs later. It records GPS at the start and finish, and it stores per-question timing.

**Where does open-answer sentiment come from?**

The open-text sentiment feature calls an external AI model. Themes on open answers are part of that feature. Exports stay anonymised: no names and no email addresses.
